ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने पहली पारी में 177 रन बनाए थे. जवाब में भारतीय टीम ने अपनी पहली पारी में 400 का स्कोर खड़ा किया. टीम इंडिया को पहली पारी में 223 रन की बढ़त मिली थी. पहली पारी में रोहित शर्मा ने शानदार शतक जड़ा जबकि रवींद्र जडेजा और अक्षर पटेल ने अर्धशतकीय पारी खेली. जडेजा ने पहली पारी में 5 विकेट चटकाए जबकि दूसरी पारी में अश्विन ने पंजा खोला. तीसरे दिन कुल 19 विकेट गिरे जिसमें ऑस्ट्रेलिया के 10 और भारत के 9 विकेट शामिल थे. सीरीज का दूसरा टेस्ट मैच 17 फरवरी से दिल्ली में खेला जाएगा.
आज तीसरे दिन भारत की शुरुआत 321/7 के स्कोर से हुई थी, शुरुआत में ही रवींद्र जडेजा का विकेट गिर गया था.लेकिन फिर अक्षर पटेल ने ‘अंगद के पाँव’ के जैसे एक छोर से मोर्चा संभाले रखा, पहले मोहम्मद शमी और बाद में मोहम्मद सिराज ने अक्षर का बखूबी साथ दिया.मोहम्मद शमी ने ताबड़तोड़ 37 रनों की पारी खेली.
