PATNA:क्रिकेट की दुनिया से जुड़े कई जाने-माने लोग सलीम दुर्रानी के निधन पर उन्हें श्रद्धांजलि दे रहे हैं.अपने ज़माने में भारत के बेहतरीन ऑलराउंडर माने जाने वाले सलीम दुर्रानी के बारे में कहा जाता है कि वो दर्शकों की मांग पर छक्का लगा दिया करते थे.
साल 1961-62 में सलीम दुर्रानी ने भारत को इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ टेस्ट सीरीज जिताने में अहम भूमिका निभाई. उस दौरान उन्होंने कोलकाता और मद्रास (अब चेन्नई) टेस्ट में क्रमश: 8 और 10 विकेट लेकर भारत को जीत दिलाई थी. इसके करीब 10 साल बाद उन्होंने फिर इस प्रदर्शन को दोहराते हुए भारत को वेस्टइंडीज के खिलाफ पोर्ट ऑफ स्पेन टेस्ट में जीत दिलाई. उस मैच में सलीम दुर्रानी ने क्लाइव लॉयड और गैरी सोबर्स को आउट किया था. वह फैंस के बीच काफी मकबूल थे. ऐसे ही साल 1973 में जब कानपुर टेस्ट में उन्हें टीम से ड्रॉप किया गया तो दर्शकों ने नारे लगाते हुए कहा, नो दुर्रानी, नो टेस्ट.
सलीम दुर्रानी ने जनवरी 1960 में ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ टेस्ट डेब्यू किया. वह करीब 13 साल तक भारत के लिए खेले. इस दौरान उन्होंने 29 टेस्ट मैचों में भारतीय टीम का प्रतिनिधित्व किया. टेस्ट में उनके नाम 1202 रन दर्ज हैं. क्रिकेट के सबसे बड़े प्रारूप में उनके नाम एक शतक और 7 अर्धशतक हैं. टेस्ट में उनका हाईएस्ट स्कोर 104 रन रहा. इसके अलावा फर्स्ट क्लास क्रिकेट में उन्होंने 8545 रन बनाए. प्रथम श्रेणी क्रिकेट में सलीम दुर्रानी के 14 शतक और 45 अर्धशतक लगाए. फर्स्ट क्लास क्रिकेट में उनका हाईएस्ट स्कोर 137 रन नॉट आउट रहा
सलीम दुर्रानी का जन्म 11 दिसंबर 1934 को अफगानिस्तान की राजधानी काबुल में हुआ था. उनका पूरा नाम सलीम अजीज दुर्रानी था. जन्म के बाद वह भारत आ गए. उनके पिता अब्दुल अजीज अविभाजित भारत के लिए दो अनऑफिशियल टेस्ट मैच ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ खेले थे. बंटवारे के बाद उनके पिता अब्दुल अजीज क्रिकेट कोच के तौर पर कराची चल गए जबकि सलीम दुर्रानी अपनी मां के साथ जामनगर में रहने रहने लगे. बाद में सलीम राजस्थान में शिफ्ट हो गए.
