दोनों ने लिखा, ’15 साल साथ बिताने के दौरान हमने हंसी-खुशी से हर पल को जिया और हमारा रिश्ता विश्वास, सम्मान और प्यार के साथ आगे बढ़ता रहा। अब हम अपनी जिंदगी का नया अध्याय शुरू करेंगे-जो कि पति-पत्नी की तरह नहीं, बल्कि को-पेरेंट और एक-दूसरे के लिए परिवार की तरह होगा। हमने कुछ समय पहले ही अपना सेपरेशन प्लान किया था और अब हम इस अलग-अलग रहने की व्यवस्था में सहज हैं। हम बेटे आज़ाद के लिए को-पेरेंट्स बने रहेंगे और उसकी परवरिश साथ ही करेंगे। हम फिल्मों के लिए और अपने पानी फाउंडेशन के लिए साथ काम करते रहेंगे।’
