PATNA:कॉमनवेल्थ गेम्स 2022 का आयोजन बर्मिंघम में होना है. इससे ठीक पहले भारत की उम्मीदों को करारा झटका लगा है. भारत के लिए टोक्यो ओलंपिक में गोल्ड मेडल और हाल ही में सिल्वर मेडल जीतने वाले जैवलिन थ्रोअर नीरज चोपड़ा कॉमनवेल्थ गेम्स से बाहर हो गए हैं. वे चोट की वजह से टूर्नामेंट से बाहर हुए हैं. यह इवेंट 28 जुलाई से शुरू हो रही है.
इंडियन ओलिंपिक एसोसिएशन के जनरल सेक्रेटरी राजीव मेहता ने नीरज के कॉमनवेल्थ में न खेलने की पुष्टि की है.उन्होंने कहा कि WAC के फाइनल के दौरान उन्हें इंजरी आई थी.वे अभी भी फिट नहीं है.वर्ल्ड एथलेटिक्स इवेंट के बाद नीरज चोपड़ा का MRI स्कैन हुआ था, जिसमें ग्रोइन एंजरी की बात पता लगी है.ऐसे में नीरज चोपड़ा को करीब एक महीने का आराम की सलाह दी गई है.
कॉमनवेल्थ गेम्स में नीरज चोपड़ा का मैच 5 अगस्त को होना था, उसी दिन जेवलिन थ्रो का इवेंट था। अब इस फील्ड में भारत की उम्मीदें डीपी मनु और रोहित यादव से हैं। जेवलिन थ्रो में अब यह दोनों ही भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व करेंगे.2019 में नीरज चोपड़ा को कोहनी में इंजरी थी। इंजरी इतनी गंभीर थी कि उनका करियर तक खतरे में आ गया था। हालांकि, नीरज ने ऑपरेशन कराया। करीब एक साल तक अपना फोन बंद रखा और वापसी की। इसके बाद ही उन्होंने टोक्यो ओलिंपिक में गोल्ड जीता था
