Abdul will not lay a ditch; Abdul will claim his political right… This is the statement of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, who is directly challenging the Samajwadi Party and the Congress ahead of the Uttar Pradesh elections. Owaisi is preparing the ground in UP and says—if the BJP and Yogi Adityanath are to be stopped from becoming chief minister for a third time, the opposition must unite, but the politics of treating Muslims merely as a vote bank must end.
Abdul will not lay a ditch… Abdul will claim his political right… Abdul will decide his own leadership and become a leader. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has made his agenda crystal clear before the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election. Owaisi has been touring various parts of UP these days. During a conversation with a news channel, the AIMIM leader sharply targeted the Samajwadi Party and the Congress.
Owaisi said that if the BJP is to be stopped and Yogi Adityanath prevented from becoming chief minister for a third time, all opposition parties should come together. However, if the Samajwadi Party and the Congress do not wish to join, that is their choice. Owaisi added that Muslims must stop the politics of being regarded only as a political asset. He claims that AIMIM is not just offering Muslims votes but is demanding political leadership for them.
In other words, Owaisi’s direct message is—no longer just votes, but a share, and a share in which the Muslim community determines its own political leadership. Owaisi also raised a big question about the Samajwadi Party’s PDA. Referring to the Rajya Sabha election, he targeted the Samajwadi Party and asked where the party’s PDA has gone. Owaisi said that those accused of being the BJP’s “B Team” should answer for their decisions before raising questions.
Owaisi also mentioned the long‑standing Rajya Sabha tenure of Ramgopal Yadav’s family and asked that if this time a businessman is sent to the Rajya Sabha, where is Muslim representation? Is the only role of Muslims to cast votes? This question has become the biggest political strike against the Samajwadi Party. Regarding Akhilesh Yadav’s possible visit to Ayodhya, Owaisi said that the issue need not be over‑discussed, but everyone knows what happened in Uttar Pradesh on 6 December. He said that, in light of the CBI cases and the events of that period, Akhilesh Yadav should also be held accountable.
Now the biggest question is—will Owaisi contest the UP election alone or as part of an alliance? He hinted that talks are ongoing with some people and that the picture regarding an alliance will be clarified soon. He said AIMIM’s aim is to stop the BJP and that anyone who comes with them will be supported. But the core message of Owaisi’s politics for now is—“Abdul will not lay a ditch; Abdul will claim his political right.”
Thus Owaisi is openly challenging the traditional politics of the Samajwadi Party and the Congress concerning Muslim votes. He accuses both parties of wanting Muslim votes while refusing to give Muslims political share and leadership. This is not the first time Owaisi has warned Akhilesh Yadav. Earlier, while analysing the Bihar election results, he cautioned Akhilesh, saying that the mistake Akhilesh is making is the same mistake Tejashwi Yadav made in Bihar.
He even said that AIMIM is like the Pandavas demanding only five villages. If Akhilesh Yadav is not ready for that, then there will be a Mahabharata. Now the question in UP politics is—will Owaisi’s move change the equation of Muslim‑vote politics? Will pressure on the Samajwadi Party and the Congress increase? And will the attempt at opposition unity to stop the BJP materialise?
Because Owaisi has made his intention clear—Abdul will no longer just lay a ditch… he will demand his political right and decide his own leadership.
